When to Renew Your FL Driver's License
Before your license expires, the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) will mail you a renewal notice telling you that it's time to renew. The DHSMV allows you to renew your valid FL driver's license up to 19 months before the expiration date.
- Your FL driver's license will be valid for 8 years at a time.
- If you are 80 years old or older, your FL driver's license will be valid for 6 years and you will be required to pass a vision test to renew it.

You can renew your valid FL driver's license up to 18 months before it expires. You can renew either:
- In person.
- By mail (for active military members only).

Driver License Road Testing is available at our Southside location. You do not need an appointment to take the written or road tests. If you would like to make an appointment to renew your license, you may use the button below. Appointments are available at our Southside Customer Service Center.
Medical testing requires an appointment. Medical Testing is available at our Southside location. Call 850-606-4700 to make an appointment for the written and extended driving exams. If a customer needs to take a extended driving exam due to a 3-N-3 Cancellation, then they also need to make an appointment for 9:00 or 2:00 Monday thru Thursday excluding Holidays.
